in_christI recently heard a marvelous story.  A little 6 year old girl was in a drawing lesson.  She was in the back of the room.  She hardly ever paid attention in class but was doing so this time.  The teacher was fascinated and walked over to her and asked, “What are you drawing?”  And the girl said, “I’m drawing a picture of God.”  The teacher said, “But nobody knows what God looks like!”  To which the girl replied, “They will in a minute!”

Long before the church had pulpits and baptisteries, she had kitchens and dinner tables. "The believers met together in the Temple every day. They ate together in their homes, happy to share their food with joyful hearts" (Acts 2:46 NCV). "Every day in the Temple and in people's homes they continued teaching the people and telling the Good News—that Jesus is the Christ" (Acts 5:42 NCV).

When everything shakes, only the real remains immovable! Throughout history, our Lord’s Ekklesia has risen to the challenges when everything else has failed. It’s time again to take advantage of the situation around us and storm the gates of Hell.

Meeting the Needs in Northeast Florida

Lately our heart has been really burdened for the needs of the NE Florida community. Everyday we hear of elderly people going without heat and families struggling to make ends meet. The church in Jacksonville has for the most part relegated the needs of the poor to governmental agencies and nonprofits. We have lost our heart. We have failed in our compassion.
