The Dying Manhood in Media - Mauricio BelgranoYoung men, exercising biblical manhood starts at the heart; therefore, we need to guard it against most type of entertainment we watch. Media is the biggest influence in our society. According to parentstv.org, 66% of children have friends who are influenced by TV programming. It promotes ideologies that are attacking every aspect of our Christian faith, like our masculinity.
The personhood of a man is to become a leader, provider, and protector of his family and/or society. A boy should mature into a godly man to bring up children who serve the Lord faithful by serving their communities. The results of anything contrary to Biblical manhood are fatherless children, promiscuity, homosexuality, single-parent women, and Peter Pans.

Every season, we are presented with TV programming where our manhood is threatened. Men are portrayed as lazy and immature sexual maniacs. Shows, like Glee, a musical series about high school teenagers, present these pointless attributes to millions of TV viewers, provoking adults to have low expectations of children.

I admonish you, my friends, to use your minds rightly to fight for the joy of Christ. Don't allow adults to look down on you because of your age, but set an example for us also (1 Tim. 4:16). I hope that you do hold yourselves accountable over setting yourselves as an example for the believers. Show yourselves not to be irresponsible boys, but reliable men. Let God steer your hearts so that you can make wise decisions over what you watch on TV. Your eyes are the windows to your soul. Anything bad your feed into it will reap results of a stale, indifferent heart for the Gospel. Ultimately, your fellowship with your Creator and Savior is what will determine your course into a mature, godly man.
