Duty to Man or Debtor to God?

ReverenceSome years ago I heard about the Welsh mules that worked in the coal mines and how they refused to work after the revival hit. The mules had been cussed at by the dirty-mouth miners for so long that they didn’t respond to the new language of their owners. It seems that when the Welshmen got converted during the revival it cleaned up their act and affected what came out of their mouth. Of course the animals should not have been treated like that in the first place but they did not know any better. Why do I tell you this little story?

is it the son-of-god-jesusThere is one question we need ask ourselves often as we traverse the world of Christianity “Is it the Son?”

When it comes to the historic customs of the church through the ages they do not qualify or justify our present practice, neither do popular trends and so I ask you “is it the Son?”

You say “well it must be, look at the results achieved, why if it were not the Son we could not be successful”. Some of us say that to ourselves and refuse to consider change. Two words that need be redefined based on biblical foundations and not the business world are “results” and “success”.

Ministry relationshipsHow are your relationships? Are the patterned after the Bible or society? Do you understand the degree of depth that you operate in your present relationships? What degrees of operational unity are you comfortable with? In the 21st century it is absolutely necessary that we return to biblical models of relationships if we are to disciple and be discipled in His Church.
