My friend Greg and I have been talking quite a bit about what it means to follow Jesus. Greg would not consider himself as somebody who takes Jesus seriously, but he admits to having questions. I didn’t have a formula for him to understand how a Christian conversion works, but I told him that many years ago, when I was a child, I had heard about Jesus and found the idea of Him compelling, then much later, while reading the Gospels, came to believe I wanted to follow Him. This changed things in my life, I said, because it involved giving up everything and choosing to go into a relationship with Him.

people20having20funIt was a brisk, spring morning with the sun beginning its path across the mountain town I was driving through. The post office was bustling with people inside and out. At the local breakfast spot, people sat in chairs outside chatting. Kids ran in the lawns of the houses along the little two-lane road going through this scenic view.

The Transforming Power of Salvation!

441The idea that there is another way to salvation, other than through Jesus Christ and that we can be saved today and continue business as usual tomorrow, can’t be further from truth. My concern, as it refers to our churches, is that they are watering down the truth of the Gospel trying to accommodate a more secular and less “offensive” approach.


The following twelve points should challenge all of us, as Christians and leaders, to review our own salvation and how we define and present the Gospel to a lost humanity. I should also add that the Holy Spirit play a center role in every step:

Tomorrow is not guaranteed

Sherri ClarkThe final volunteer meeting for an upcoming Christian event had already stirred my emotions as I envisioned crowds of new converts. My conversation with a young woman afterward only intensified my feelings and confirmed the reason why I was volunteering for this event.


She told me that she had been witnessing to a colleague about Jesus Christ. The colleague was in her mid-twenties, drinking and partying. With regret in her voice, the young woman said, “She was almost there. I know she was, but now it’s too late. She was killed last night. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow.”
