What is she doing here? Who let her in? Doesn’t He know her past? Surely, we haven’t forgotten. She isn’t worthy! She is breaking society’s rules. Women are not permitted here. Why is she crying?
What is that in her hand? What is she coming to do? No! No she didn’t. Oh! What fragrance. Too much cost! Too much love! Stop her! She is making me feel uncomfortable. She has gone too far!
Go away extreme worshipper! You make the rest of us look bad.
So it went on that day when the Lord Jesus said “Do you SEE her?”
Mark 14:3
3 And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head.
1. Extreme worship will take extreme risks to break through the comfort (safe) zone. Extreme worship is not afraid to go against the norms of society. It’s not that extreme worship is disrespectful and purposely confronting, it’s that is fully focused on Him who is being worshipped, therefore all things surrounding are blurred by the fascination for Him.
Mark 14:4
4 But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, "Why was this fragrant oil wasted?
2. Extreme worship will always appear as an extreme action in the eyes of those not fully committed. The person involved in extreme worship will always be misunderstood, taunted and despised. The reason for the rejection is that extreme worship challenges the hearts of those in its presence.
Mark 14:5a
5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor."
3. Extreme worship begins and ends with extreme giving. It takes nothing less than doing 100% of what you are able to do. It is all out, no limits, no holding back, full throttle and pedal to the metal.
Mark 12:42-44
42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood."
You are never too broke, too poor or too low to be an extreme worshipper. All is all at any level! Go for it!
Mark 14:5b
And they criticized her sharply.
4. Extreme worship will produce extreme rejection in those ruled by demonic spirits. Criticism comes with the turf if you will dare to be an extreme worshipper!
Mark 14:6-8
6 But Jesus said, "Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me. 7 For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good; but Me you do not have always. 8 She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial.
5. Extreme worship will be always be noticed, and praised by Heaven. It’s God’s system of promotion and better than any marketing plan. The extreme worshipper will always feel God’s favor blowing on their back. No amount of money can compete with the grace given to extreme worship.
Mark 14:9
9 Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her."
Eccl 3:11
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts,
6. Extreme worship has eternal consequences. Not only will God call attention to it in the earthly realm but because Divinity abides in the Eternal Now, without clock or watch, what extreme worship does in our today will be forever praising Him who is eternally worthy.
Mark 14:10-11
10 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Him to them. 11 And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. So he sought how he might conveniently betray Him.
7. Extreme worship will always confront hidden and godless agenda’s in the hearts of men. The presence of God is like Raid to roaches or kicking over an ant hill. Darkness and deception will find themselves exposed by extreme worship.
We were created to take our hands of the handlebars. There is no greater thrill than to go to the front of the boat and like in the movie Titanic lift our hands and float in the winds of the Lord. That is what extreme worship does. It disconnects the extreme worshipper from the earthly realm and for a time….. Ah! permits humanity to break free and enter in the realms of glory.
Go Ahead Break it! He is worthy!
Word of God speak….
